Romeo & Juliet - VXR Action Live Show
I was very interested in how the show would be - I think I'm right in saying MPH03 was the first UK motorshow to have a liveaction theatre. Since then they've done it twice more mph04 and mph05 and last 2 years motorshows did it too. I've enjoyed them but they've not been very different and there is only so many times you can spin cars around etc. This show is different in that it has more of a story and features dancers/acrobats and some old school concept cars. I thought it worked as it was sufficient different - it also will probably appeal to a broader audience. The VXR cars look well with the bold graphics, but its only the Monaro that looks like a serious motor. Oh and the motorbike tricks were pretty special too.

Lotus
Lotus as always had some desireable cars including the new exige which must be the best looking white car I've ever seen. The new Europe made interesting viewing.

Mazda
The launch on the Mazda stand was the hardtop MX5. A car they told me they'd never build - 6 months later and it's here in the flesh. The launch itself was very clever and included an artificial downpour to show off the speed at which the powered roof can be raised and lowered. Mazda also had the most attractive outside feature which was the Zoom-zoom challenge, a small track on which you must complete two clean (don't stray over the white lines) laps in a RX8 PZ and a MX5. The fastest wins a Mazda car for a year. The leaderboard can be found Here Looks like Press day people weren't included otherwise I would have been fifth ! ho hum. We also like the Mazda concept car and the whole stand was very attractive.

Mercedes Benz (Maybach)
As usual all the Mercedes cars were Silver. However there was only one car that had my eye the old 300SL. One of the cars that will be on permenant display at the Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands.

Mini
Mini and BMW were kinda out on a limb outside the main halls. They're stands were probably the most lavish (certainly BMW and Rolls Royces). Mini's continued the fake theme with a fake version of each car next to the real ones. They also had a large space invaders game. The Mini Cooper S Works GP was the main car to see.

Mitsubishi
The new Evo IX FQ-360 made its debut on the Mitsubishi stand.

Morgan
Our first look at the restyled Aero 8 with Mini headlights - it definitely looks better. Also eyecatching was the orange and yellow cars.

Offroad course
Several of the manufacturers shared an offroad course outside. Landrover was not one of them - they had their own course further along nearby to the action theatre. We sampled the course from the confines of the Daihatsu Terios.

Peugeot
There were a number of reasons why to visist the Peugeot stand - including the vintage 205 turbo 16 as well as the superb 907 concept (can't help thinking the simularities between this and the Maybach and which fundamentally works best.
