Getting Alpinas insured isn't too easy - we've talked about it on the m5board before - thought I start a thread here for people to reference
If you can tell us:
Your car
Your age
Location (approx)
No claims discount
Other people insured too
Insured with which company
Direct or through broker
How much is it costing
Let us know _________________ Neil

AMAZING!!!
Just renewed the insurance on the Alpina and it is cheaper than last year (despite a few upward changes on the licence and the mileage):
Alpina B3S Touring (2003 model)
Oxfordshire (kept on the drive)
Me: 37, 5 points (even rarer than the car itself and a long story for another posting)
Wife: 37, 3 points (no change there)
Full NCD (protected)
30k miles per year (Class 1 Business use - serious mileage for a serious car)
£520 excess (pretty standard for a car from Group 20)
Carole Nash quoted £1119 (Norwich Union policy with discounts for being a member of the BMW Car Club - payable over 4 months with no admin charge)
This compares to Tesco asking for a renewal of £1600 (up from £1200 last year), which increased to £1700 when monthly payments were taken into account!!!!!
The other good quotes I got were from Adrian Flux (£1146) and Cheam Insurance Brokers (£1139).
All three quotes were for the same policy from Norwich Union - the differences being the amount of commission they were prepared to give away. I went with Carole Nash because they had a free payment scheme over 4 months and the extra £20 saved is another 100 miles of fun driving.
Contact Numbers (if you are interested):
Carole Nash - 0800 298 5555
Adrian Flux - 08700 777 888
Cheam Insurance Brokers: 01737 354 377 _________________ Charles

Update to my last post...
Carole Nash forgot to protect my No Claims and wanted an extra £120 for the privilege.
Went back to Cheam and they came back to me with £1134 so they now have my business - Thanks to Greg Bridges at Cheam
This may seem like quite a lot of money compared with other postings in this thread, but please bear in mind that I use the car every day and cover over 30k miles a year. I guess the other problem is that because the car is so rare, the depreciation is low and so the "estimated value" at renewal time remains accordingly high. Nice problem to have to live with... _________________ Charles

Raymondo,
You must be doing well for your age - but I can't help thinking that the premiums would have been a bit lower if you had lied just a little bit
